Nora Fortune

Hello! My name is Nora Fortune, and I am a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designer.

I believe a well-designed website needs more than usability, it needs a distinctive visual identity, something memorable as well as intuitive. I like pulling a company's branding directly into the UI, so the final product feels unmistakably theirs.

I'm a recent UVA Computer Science grad, though these days I'm far more drawn to front-end and interface design than back-end work. One of the best design experiences I've had was a study abroad program in Greece built to mirror real industry work. There were multiple rounds of product iteration, user research, and usability testing, with feedback from professional UX researchers.

One of my biggest strengths is putting myself in someone else's shoes, looking at a page the way they would and thinking through how it might make them feel and where it might go wrong for them.

Outside of design, I sing lead in a band, ride horses, and spend a lot of time with my cat, Mabel. I'm also usually in the middle of a fantasy or sci-fi novel, and I dabble in photography.
